Kathleen Hughes, Educator and Creativity Coach

Kathy has taught art in the public school system for 17 years, and she has also spent ten years working with teenage and adult special populations.

She received her Art Education BA from Purdue University, and her Masters in Art Education from the University of Illinois.

She has taught adults and children (of all ages), and her subjects have ranged from the practical arts of drawing, painting, and sculpture to the science of color, the backgrounds of famous artists, and important themes in the history of art.

While in grad school, she taught future art teachers to create class themes, and to unify diverse students into a cohesive group capable of accomplishing much more than they ever thought they could.

She developed programs for the University of Illinois’ Saturday art school, a semester-long workshop for student teachers using real-life students in a weekly art class.

She is also a creativity coach who has studied with Eric Maisel, internationally-known expert in helping creative people overcome their mental blocks to become happy, productive artists.

Kathy’s philosophy is that everyone can learn to use art for comfort, relaxation, healing, and the satisfaction of the creativity urge.
